During the classroom phase of the program, the student will attend class for a total of 32 hours. The schedule for the class days and time will be on the student’s contract.
Our staff has incorporated the use of textbooks, lectures, videos, quizzes and other teaching techniques to ensure our students are comprehending the course information. The classroom modules will include Traffic Laws, Driver Preparation, Vehicle Movements, Driver Readiness, Risk Reductions, Environmental Factors, Distractions, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Adverse Conditions, Vehicle Requirements and Consumer and Driver Responsibility.
A minimum score of 70 for all classroom work will be required for the student to receive a D964 certificate.
The first three days will cover the Traffic Laws module and will prepare the student to take the Permit Test. The student is eligible to take the Permit Test at Street Smart or the DPS.
We highly recommend that you download the Student Drivers Handbook below and do the 84 questions on pages 80-82 as a review for the permit test: Student Drivers Handbook
After receiving the permit, the student will continue with the classroom but may not start working on Phase 2-In-Car of the program. If the student has not completed the classroom phase, a drive time cannot be scheduled.
*A student may begin the Classroom Phase of the course at the age of 14 but must be 15-24 years of age to be eligible for a permit and start Phase 2-In-Car.
We want to make sure that you only sign-up for the courses necessary.
